Carole Nash lets bikers cut car insurance costs by up to 60 percent
A new initiative launched by Carole Nash means bikers can now secure discounts of up to 60 per cent on their car insurance - by transferring any motorcycling no claims bonus they have to a car policy This means that with a maximum no claims bonus - claims-free riding of five years or more - a £700 car premium would be slashed to just £280.
The move is significant as Carole Nash is the UK’s biggest motorcycle insurance specialist and around 80 per cent of its own biking customers have some level of no claims bonus. That means that among its existing customer base alone some 200,000 bikers - around a fifth of all those on the road - could qualify for car premium discounts.
The scheme works by letting a policyholder who has not had a car insured in the previous five years to use their bike claim record to secure bonus discount. Those who have had both car and bike policies can choose to “top” up their car no claims discount if they have a better bike claim record.
Explains Carole Nash’s head of product analysis, Nick Baker. “If you’re a biker who has not been insured to drive a car in the previous five years it’s simply a straight transfer. But if you have, say, five years no claims on a bike policy but only three years on a car we can now allow you to use your biking track record to secure the maximum no claims discount for your car.”
He added: “The reason we can do this is because insurers agree with us when we say that bikers are much more road aware than the typical driver and are therefore better at anticipating and avoiding risk.
The no claims discount scheme - believed to be unique to Carole Nash - is available now on the vast majority of the company’s car policies. All these include extensive UK and European breakdown cover - including homes start services - and up to £50,000 motor legal expense insurance. For details or a quote call on 0800 804 7955.
